Ashalim works in two areas:
Program Development – a 3-stage process:
§ Initiation - identification of a need in the field (such as a problem or trend that is not being adequately addressed, a group of children or youth who are falling through the cracks, or a service model that does not yet exist in Israel.) Together with government ministries and NGOs, Ashalim designs a pilot program, which is approved by Ashalim's Board.
§ Implementation – a pilot period when the program is operated in a small number of locations and evaluated, in cooperation with ministries, municipalities and NGO partners.
§ Institutionalization – a successful pilot program is expanded to reach a critical mass of locations/participants and is consolidated into a program model that can be replicated readily. Ashalim phases out of the operation of its successful program models, as they become internalized and disseminated by Israeli government ministries.
Sharing Knowledge: Thousands of Israeli professionals stand to benefit from the knowledge amassed by Ashalim over the years about effective work methods and approaches with young at-risk populations. Mayda – Ashalim's Center for Knowledge and Learning centralizes Ashalim's professional development activity.
